Our Deacon Family Ministry is designed to make sure each family in our church has a dedicated deacon who provides prayer, encouragement, and care throughout the year.

What Is the Deacon Family Ministry?

The Deacon Family Ministry connects each church family with an assigned deacon who serves as a spiritual friend, encourager, and point of contact.

This ministry helps ensure that no one walks through life alone, whether in times of celebration or times of need.

How Deacons Serve Your Family

Prayer & Encouragement

  • Regular prayer for each assigned family

  • Encouraging calls, notes, texts, or visits

  • Support in your spiritual journey

Connection & Community

  • Checking in periodically to build genuine relationships

  • Making sure families stay connected to church life

  • Helping new members feel welcomed and supported

Care in Times of Need

  • Assistance during illness, hospitalization, or crisis

  • Coordinating meals, visits, or other practical help

  • Communicating needs to church leadership when necessary

The Deacon Family Ministry is one of the ways Union City Baptist Church strives to live out the love of Jesus—one family at a time.

Qualifications of a Deacon:

Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless. Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
